Popup a dialog box with nothing inside. It seems that I should type in
something. It waits for me forever. All buttons are gray except for stop.
Anyway, I will try later.

yeah, I get the 3 cpio.gz files from oracle 9i link
the problem was that I didn't setup environment variables correctly.
Now I can install that, though I still think oracle produces suck softwares.
That may explain why oracle DBA's are popular.

calm down.. I think 9i is much much better than 8i for installation
on Linux.
You'd better check it out what real problem is.
ps: don't know if it is true the GUI needs some GNOME libraries. ie,
you 'd better install it under GNOME or any Xwindow if you've GNOME installed

Agree. Read Installation Notes carefully before complaining.

yeah, I installed it under gnome. actually I finally found a webpage, which
gives step by step instruction on installation.
One mistake I made was that I didn't setup the size of the shared memory.

Though I can install it now after reading the notes, I still don't think it
is an easy-to-install software. The installer is too weak.
