有一些问题还请版上牛人帮忙回复一下：
夫妻两人同时申请的485（主申请人EB2），现在的状态是pending （没有超过180天）
但是都拿到了EAD/AP卡，如果副申请人（现在的身份是H1）辞职，没有新的工作，需要
向uscis update 状态吗？是不是身份自动转成aos? 有没有有必要转成h4呢？如果工作
的公司没有向uscis报告h1辞职，是不是h1的身份会一直保持？
如果辞职以后回国探亲，是不是只用AP就好了？
副申请人以后找到工作如果接着用h1身份，需要占用每年新的h1的名额吗？还是只要h1
transfer就好了？（h1刚刚renew过，2015年过期）
或者只能EAD？然后每年renew直到拿到绿卡？

许久以前，便想说说关于自然的话题。
自然是什么？虽然我们生于自然，长于自然，本身也属于自
然的一部分，或许正因为这样，我们中的大多数人对这个问题都
得不出全美的答案。
自然是山，自然是海？是温暖和煦的阳光。是郁郁葱葱的森
林？抑或是那陡峭无垠的戈壁，肆无忌惮的风沙？没人说的请。
也许，在一些人的心里，并没有过多的想起这个问题。在他
们看来，自然就是自然，无须装潢，无须修饰，是最真切，最自
然的概念。
也有一些人，他们对自然的崇尚仅止于一种潮流，就好像他
们买时装，买汽车，买洋房一样。在他们眼里，钱可以买到一切，
自然包括人们追寻的"自然"
最后一类人，他们生就对自然的热爱，由衷的欣喜，包括自
然的风景和自然的人生，但是，很多时候，他们又不得不迫于压
力做一些违背自然的事，承担不愿再肩负的责任。尽管如此，他
们还是会努力找个时间开车到郊外，寻个无人的地方，感受一下
深山的寂默，流水的清爽，完全抛开俗世的喧哗烦扰"，也只有在
此刻，他们才是最自然的自己，这天地山水所包含的才是最自然
的他们。
我很羡慕第一种人，他们的人生也许平凡，也许庸碌，却无

北京时间6月23日消息，据美国太空网报道，本周二(21日)，太阳发生一次剧烈的耀斑
爆发，恰好赶上了今年的夏至时节，这是北半球夏季的第一天。
这场风暴始于周二一早，正在太空运行的“太阳和太阳风层探测器”(SOHO)记录下了整
个过程。这艘飞船是由美国宇航局和欧洲空间局共同研制并运行的，主要用于空间天气
的监测。
根据空间天气网(Spaceweather.com)的报道，一次C-7级别的太阳耀斑引发了一次
太阳风暴，以及随后的一次大规模日冕物质抛射(CME)事件。
“太阳黑子群1236上空的磁场在6月21日早些时候发生爆发，引发一次大规模的日
冕物质抛射事件，这次抛射事件的发生地几乎正对地球。” 空间天气网在一份警报声
明中写道。“即将到来的这次等离子体流并不属于特别强烈的类型，然而这次爆发有可
能触发地球磁暴。预计本次太阳爆发产生的等离子体将于6月23日开始抵达地球。”
在SOHO卫星拍摄于国际标准时21日04:12 (北京时间12:12)，在图像的顶部位置可
以清晰看到此次爆发的物质喷射现象。这一事件恰逢北半球夏至，此时太阳直射北回归
线，也就是说达到了太阳直射的最北端。这是北半球夏季的开端，也是一年中白昼最长
的一天。当然相对的，今天也是南半球冬季的第一天。
C7级太阳耀斑是最低级的耀斑，即便是威力更加巨大的M级耀斑也仅仅被归类为中
等强度爆发事件。X级则是最强烈的耀斑爆发等级。
日冕物质抛射(CME)事件是发生于日面的大规模带电粒子抛射现象。这些物质大部
分被送入太空，也有一部分会被太阳磁场拉回日面。
本月早些时候，6月7日就曾发生过一次日冕物质抛射事件，那次抛射事件的规模震
惊了美国宇航局的专家们，他们将其归入M-2级别。
由于此次物质抛射事件发生时太阳这一区域恰好正对着地球，因此这些大量的带电
粒子轰击地球磁场时会暗自南北两极引发绚丽的极光。极端剧烈的太阳风暴可能会对卫
星和在太空工作的宇航员健康造成威胁，并有可能破坏地面的通讯和电网设备。
目前太阳正处于其11年周期中的活跃期，美国宇航局和全球各国的检测机构正密切
关注着太阳的一举一动，另外还有多个太空探测器在轨道上进行监测工作。

一个程序，需要大量计算，并且需要数据交换。
比如第一步，第一个core都要算几个数据点，形成几个大数组，然后各数据点交叉相乘
，形成新的矩阵。 为了下一步计算，需要重新分布一下矩阵在各个core的组合。
现在有两个方案：一个是MPI_isend/ireciver；一个是用写共享硬盘的方法，比如用
netcdf，读写还挺快。
请问，在正常情况下，哪个会更有效？
另外，有没有可能用数据库的方式，大家共同向一个服务器存取数据，不知道这样与写
硬盘，哪个更有效。
假设每次交换的数据都是100M.

h1身份不会一直保持的。如果现在占用了一个名额，则转h1b不需占用新名额。
转不转成h4都可以，

You sure Li Wei quit all his positions in the US?
I gather he's just a visiting/adjunct professor in China.

I heard that they got a rookie from Michigan this year. They now have li Wei
from darden, tian guoqiang from texas am,
Brian viard from Stanford and Wang yijiang from Minnesota.
Is this a good place for a rookie with that kind of money?

现在活动强度才刚开始向上爬，后面肯定会有大的。一个周期－11年－
里总会有那么几个在地面上会造成些反应的，反应有多大，就看运气了。
不是说太阳风吧，说的是日冕抛射物。耀斑发生后，高能粒子的速度
很快，可以在一两个小时左右就达到地球。但抛射物的速度较慢，要
两到三天才会到达。

it clearly says that "Apart from his role at Cheung Kong Graduate School of
Business, Dr. Li Wei is a professor of Business Administration at Darden
Graduate School of Business, University of Virginia,"
Obviously he's still got a position at UVa
i don't know much about other guys, but for Li Wei, I believe he hasn't
resigned totally from his US university.

That is inconsistent with the main web page. CKGSB used to allow for double
tenure but now it is forbiden. It is probably an old web page that has not

ok, right. Just for the case of Prof Li Wei, since you mentioned his main
page at CKGSB, I was wondering why it only mentioned that before joining
CKGSB he taught in Duke without a single word about UVa?
Plus, Li Wei's profile is still on UVa's staff page along with other UVa
guys, no any indication about his leave.

When a tenured professor leaves for another full-time job, he/she may be
given 1 year (sometimes even 2 years) to decide if he/she wants to formally
resign from the current position, even if he/she has no intention of return.
I am not sure if this is the case for Li Wei. Unless he formally submitted
his resignation, the UVA has to list him as a faculty anyway.
I also noticed that his paper is on AER P&P, which is quite different from
《美国经济学期刊》as mentioned in his Chinese bio. You might want to make
this record straight as well.

刚刚去Wang Neng的网页去看了下，他实际上有两篇AER pp, 一篇AER 正式文章。都写
得清清楚楚。我们中国人
不要妄自菲薄，高道德标准的华人学者也是有的。低道德水平的白人学者也是有的。

u can convert into 50,000 usd each year. ask ur parents to convert the
other 100k usd. it is more than necessary as u still have to pay tax and
consume. u probably only need one of ur parent's quota

If one really wants money, he could head for investment bank. Chances are he
could earn many fold higher than a professor in years ahead.
If one wants to do research, very few ppl would be hooked up by 30-50k extra
dollars if he has offer from top 30 schools in US.Btw, top notch income tax
rate in China is 45%. At least 60k out of the 150k will be paid as tax.
ckgsb,pku,tsinghua...as platform are awesome, but they are more suitable for
senior guys who want to seek a second career after many years in the US.

Living expenses in BJ and SH are getting more expensive than most places in
the US. So I don't think 150k is that attractive moneywise. Money is not the
most important thing to get good economists though it is necessary.

Last year, one rookie turned down the CKGSB offer and went to the industry
and another went to UT Austin.
However, there could be people who were overlooked in the market and the
CKGSB offer can help them establish their career without worrying about
money
