有个ps要翻译，有点不太确定，感觉在美国college是大学教育的通称，对吗？
比如虽然学校实际名称是university,表述的时候也应该是college education，而非
university education, 修得课也说college courses,而不用说university courses,
感觉college比较宽，更general，用的更普遍些，这种理解对吗？谢谢！

I am using a dell laptop with Windows XP SP3. Virtualbox 3.0.8 worked well.
When upgraded to virtualbox 3.0.10, the virtual machines can not be started.
Error: can not create a new session. Visual studio debugging shows that the
error is related to ole32.dll.
Any idea for what is wrong and how to fix it? my windows xp has problems or
the virtualbox?

今年有一个读光学的Ph.D, 一个读无线通讯的Ph.D都因为找不到工作来向我诉苦.
结果是在我的帮助下, 一个在local找了个工作, 另一个转到相关行业了.
有些方向的E.E, 工作几年前就被outsource了, 连faculty也不好找了.
另外一些工作要求是美国公民才行.

某些相关行业的还好吧, 当然支持OPT才行的啊.
你到学校Career Center去问好了. Career Counselor有各行各业的具体情况, 包括
找工作难度, 入行难度, salary, 和今后的市场需求量. 所以总能尽量找些solution.
不过要转相关专业行动也得快, 晚了很被动的. 现在部分学校招生时心也太黑了吧, 还
哄得人家自费留学念Master,有的方向, Master毕业只有回中国/印度才容易找到工作.

说个真实的笑话吧, 有个印度人, 在美国念了一个Master, 一个Ph.D, 学校还都不错.
去年秋天毕业, 结果是靠做医生的太太养着, 在家里做full-time husband and father.
想来也很辛酸. 我知道好几个牛校的Ph.D, 是靠太太找的工作...

而且现在就业市场也在变化, 8个月以前可以考虑的方向, 现在可能就竞争得很激烈了.
再说了, 转专业也得有本事才行. 否则人家雇主挑剔得很, 看不中也是枉然.

找工作靠的是综合素质.人家就算靠了太太, 到底也是名校的Ph.D啊. 没有太太的话,
如果你很牛, 应该没太大问题吧. 如果不够牛, 那么去向牛人学习应该不会错吧?

我今天还看见有几个地方招聘的,salary 也不是很高.
只要博士学位, 而且竞争很激烈.
据说一个位子有至少40封application letters.
而且有些人还有行内的大牛推荐...
没办法, recession啊.
一个雇主和我发牢骚, 说他们干脆不打广告了,
因为每天来毛遂自荐的resume已经够他们挑了.
当然样本不够大. 不过很有名的地方, 大家都想去, 雇主自然
乐得挑剔, 而且也不用费尽心机到处打广告吧.

这行业协会也很有办法赚钱...
