新一季的top 20出炉了

正在申请PHD过程中，一个推荐人突然受伤，没有办法给我写了。我赶忙找以前的一个
比较牛的Faculty，曾经修过他一门课，想问他愿意不愿意。
打电话过去，他说他可以写，但是因为我只修了他的一门课，所以他只会给我写一段话。
我赶忙说我本来打算修他的另外一门课的。牛牛马上说，你最后还是没休不是吗？
我快速解释为什么没有修他那一门课，并强调说没有修他另外一门课，是我很大的遗憾
等等。
牛牛说他可以给我写推荐信，但是会很短，会说好话，但是只有一段话。
我不知道应该让他写推荐信，还是另外找别人？如果他拒绝我好还，他也没有拒绝，就
说只写一段话...后悔当初没修他第二门课，555.
请大家帮忙出出主意！

这一季好几个人都让我想起上一季
Billy -> Evan 都是小个子cute脸蛋甜点型小男生，能激起大妈大姐们无穷的保护欲
这个billy舞功比Evan更胜一筹，估计能走很远。昨天爆出消息说因病退出，真可惜。
Pauline -> Karla 不知道怎么回事，就觉得长得像。
Kevin -> Vitolio 都是不讨喜的苦面相，舞功还不如Vitolio，不看好。

如果想回国的话，应该很多国内的公司是只认学校牌子，对专业什么的排名是P都不懂
的吧，哈哈
所以试试DUKE吧。
NCSU这个学校根本就没怎么听说过，不要留在那个鸟不XX的地方了

我要告诉他的是,IBM在那里并不能说明那里有多发达.
顺便告诉你,NCSU坐落在NC的首府,Chap Hill离那里也大概30分钟路程.并不是什么鸟不
拉屎的地方.你孤陋寡闻不要紧,但是出来乱说就不好了吧.
NCSU在EE方面绝对是美国Top20~30的水平,虽然名气没有Duke和UNC响亮,但在EE的整体
实力上凌驾于这两个学校之上.国内还没几个人知道洛克菲勒大学,加州大学旧金山分校

我认识的 NCSU EE PHD 还没有毕业找不到工作的
而且工作都还不错
DUKE 比较好的是找工作换行容易，因为牌子响。

duke EE有35啊，比我想象的高，那也是个不错的选择啊，比较学校名气比ncsu大多了
另外还得看方向吧

go to a graduate school, get your PhD done in next 2 years when the market
is bouncing back, and you can find a job with ease regardless what
university you graduate.
When you are at work force, how to climb from engineer to manager mainly
depends on your personality, your shipment with manager and luck...
who cares where you graduate....

stimulus funding feed many guys well
i know couples of EE professors each recruit at least 5 phds this year
there are always poor professors and rich ones regardless of school
and it is easiler to find jobs in CA

如果两个希望都很大，建议去duke，当然还要看具体方向等等。。。

generally speaking, average payment for fresh EE MS is 85k-90k, PhD is 95k-
100k( if you can go to leading high tech companies,e.g. IBM research, AMAT.. small/medium/start up pay less )
then you have to pay more than 30% to taxes, 401(k), insurance....
and anything you buy is with 10% tax
and the standard two bedroom apartment cost 2500-3000 per month....
and they work very very hard....till 9pm is very usual, weekend overtime is
very usual(of course, as full employee,there is no overtime pay ch

EE PhD maybe this pay.
It's better than being a student anyway.

but in other states, for example in somewhere middle or eastern states,
there are many white guys in engineering department, overtime for them make
no sense. They come in at half past 7 am work hard and leave at half past 4
pm (as my company).
While in silicon valley, so many Asian there... they just work all days long
... and off at 9pm really sucks since it leaves you little private time at
working days... how can you take care of your families and many daily stuffs

Overtime is very usual
and if the culture of a company is "whatever it takes" or "make things
happen"
it typically means make your work done regardless nights, weekends, holidays
, vacations....you make it happen or die. just this simple...

Duke的EE比NCSU小得多，UNC根本没有EE，准确地说，没有Engineering。RTP的企业偏
软，做硬件的机会很少，IBM主要也是和CS的人合作。NC最大的好处是气候不错，对EE
的就业，相当得一般，估计要是phd还是得奔加州去。

NCSU EE is definitely better than Duke over all, but as I know for
electromagnetics area Duke is strong.

semiconductor at least 5 years ago. Now their semiconductor and
IC design is ok, The Power IC design group is strong. The RF& Microwave has
a couple of strong facuties. The embedded system et al have several good
professors. The PHD graduate can find
decent job when economy is ok, not in the recession though.
Duke EE has strenth in biomedical devices because DUKE medical
school is very good. Their semiconductor is improving since they h
semiconductor at least 5 years ago. Now their semiconductor and
IC design is ok, The Power IC design group is strong. The RF& Microwave has
