想问一下在大学里当instructor,lecturer的情况。不知申请的时候要求高吗？要面试
吗？要成绩单，推荐信吗？被lay off的概率高吗？是不是对teaching evaluation有一
定要求？商学院的clinical assistant professor不是tenure track 的，那是不是象
visiting assistant professor那样只能干几年就得走人，还是有可能评上clinical
associate professor，只是不太稳。懂的人能不能解答一下。多谢！

人在加拿大工作,刚拿到公民，考虑到可以绕开H1B, 所以就想往美国奔,寻找更好的发
展机会。
其实一直对P&C感兴趣，过去几年阴差阳错，一直没有抓到合适的机会，现在换不知道
是不是太晚了。
一直在consulting firm 做，希望可以找到Life 方面的。
求版上的各位帮忙看看能找到工作么？对美国完全没有概念。如果有合适的机会，需要

不懂EE.
经常看到SOT23 和 SOIC字样。What do they stand for and what's the difference?

它们是两种包装。
就是芯片的两种不同的外观。前一个散热很小，大概1W不到，后一个要2W左右。如果是

it depends on the type of school. overall, the criterion is lower than tenur
e-track jobs, and puts more emphasis on teaching.
i assume that visiting/adjunct are basically post doc alike. in some cases t
eaching is underlined, while in others is lab work.
in some schools, visiting APs have the opportunity to turn into tenure track
ones. but it is on a case by case basis. it is advisable to consult your co
lleagues

Google it:
(1) SOT stands for "small outline transistor", it may have 2/3/5/6 pins as I
have seen
(2) SOIC stands for "small outline integrated circuit", it have many
different pin counts, such as 8, 14, 16, 20

一般来说lecturer的位置没有保障，比如说现在budget cut很深，lecturer的位置就非
常危险。不过也要看学校，院里，系里和个人的情况。象我在的系里，有一个资深
lecturer，得过多次teaching award，和大家的关系都很好，这样的人就比较稳定，已
经做了十年多了。真的要fire他，系里的faculty恐怕都不干。

非常不稳定。而且竞争也挺激烈的。你觉得在teaching方面你真的能够超过所有美国人
而独占鳌头吗？

有的。
因为大家恨不得都做成sot23的，如果thermal没问题的话。
大封装贵，所以能不做就不做的

没错，比如说绝缘等级啥的，高压片子估计做小很困难。

SOT和SOIC都有8pin的。
transistor和integrated circuit外形似乎很相似，功能上有什么区别？除了功耗之外不同
之外。

为什么说thermal没问题的话。是不是因为SOT散热小所以发烫？
大封装指的是SOIC外观大吗？为什么会贵？

对的，就是会很容易烧，不可靠。
封装大了肯定贵，里头的bond wire都是金的，所以管脚多，package大就贵
