Dear xxx:
Thank you for contacting me about the ongoing immigration debate. Like many,
I believe the status quo is unacceptable. As you know, the President has
recently reiterated his desire to work closely with Congress to craft
comprehensive legislation to reform our immigration system, including visa
issues. While I do not sit on the Judiciary Committee, which is the
committee with jurisdiction over immigration legislation, I remain committed
to working with President Obama for a comprehensive solution that is fair
to American workers and taxpayers, and that offers a practical solution to
our nation's broken immigration system. Rest assured, I will keep your views
in mind as the Senate continues to debate these issues.
Again, thanks for sharing your views with me. Please don't hesitate to let
me know how you feel on any issue that concerns you.
Sincerely,
Tom Harkin
United States Senator
