如果cox现在push的话，那么它已经是最晚的一批了，呵呵。这个在美国push得最早的是
charter，不过最早的一般都不是最成功的。Time Warner Cable要比charter聪明的多，
他家所有的off-net call都由sprint和verizon来做，自己只take care of on-net call
。
目前大部分cable公司都没有自己的backbone，除了comcast这两年花了10亿美金买了dark
fiber，别人似乎都在租用别人的backbone，跑东西在别人的backbone上，应该还是data
比voice要便宜，所以俺觉得TWC的方式更加合理一些

这个没有什么特殊的标准。跟vonage等voip provider相比，cable based voip在服务质
量，可靠性方面要有保证得多，但是缺乏灵活性，价钱也高。
cable based voip从头到尾都是跑在cable公司自己的网络上面，从docsis开始，就可以
添加各种QoS，而且所有这些都不需要经过internet，所以说服务质量以及可靠性都要比
generic voip provider的要好，但是也因为这个，所有的ata/mta都是一个private ip
box，不能像vonage那样的，你可以把ata拿走到另外的地方使用。不过既然FCC都规定了
，所有的voip都得提供911服务，还是不要轻易移动ata得好。
俺对voip service有两点不满意的情况，第一，供电问题。普通的POTS电话电源都是由网
络提供，无需另外电源，这样断电的时候，照样可以使用。而voip只能通过电池或者ups
来提供这点服务，而且是非常有限的。第二，尤其对于cable based voip来说，稳定性问
题。从IP的角度看，似乎已经不是什么最突出的问题，可是一个现实是，现有的cabl

But there are a few stds on packetcable.com. The spec is quite lengthy. they
can't be that innovative, and most of them should be normal voip compliant
trying to figure out how unique it is from the rest of voip implementation

packetcable.com里都是关于cable方面的吧，跟voip似乎没有什么直接联系？不过也许
俺记错了，俺隐隐约约记得前几年做cable based voip项目时，cmts和MG之间好像有什
么关于voice的protocol
