no!! linux means OS internals one guy in my former team said that we have to use root to allow mlock() because "there is a kernel bug that makes it work with only root", I laughed my ass off.... also knowledge about TCP protocol , IP protocol is very important, since today's jobs are inevitably around network many java developers start off from a pure language or windows environment, they don't get any exposure to the system internals, so they immediately run into problems when they try to tackle slightly more complicated performance issues JS is not required, most jobs are strictly divided into front-end and back-end groups.
I think I've tackled more slightly complex performance issues than average java developers and OS, network stack ain't that critical.

why "start off from windows environment" won't give you exposure to system internals? Compiling linux kernel helps u understand TCP/IP stack or process scheduling?

因为windows没有tcp/ip or process scheduling?
