Thus far, I have basically offered some illustrations of the limits of
the human capability to understand the world. Needless to mention, the
cognitive capacities to understand the self are also confined within those
limits. For new-borns, learning about who their parents are, and of its
sexual identity is one major task. For adults, the task of knowing oneself
is much more complex. They must respond appropriately to the demands of
