mSATA means mini-sata. it's totally different from micro SATA. mSATA is physically compatible with mini-PCIe, but slightly different in electronical . Most mSATA slot will take mini-PCIe extension cards, but not the other way. There are roughly 3 form factors of internal SATA: SATA (regular), for 3.5" and 2.5" hard drive; micro-SATA, for 1.8" hard drive; and mSATA, for mSATA drives (around 1.1").
