女生去大公司做码农，还是去学校做博后？

我朋友是fresh CS phd，女生，学校还行，不是大牛校。最近收到几个offers，一类是
几大IT公司的码农，一类是跟自己很相关的research领域做博后1-2年。有点犹豫不决。
大公司的工资是博后工资的两倍以上。但我朋友觉得对research更感兴趣，虽然在
research上还没什么牛的publication。家里不缺钱，所以工资不是最主要的考虑。我
说博后1-2年出来后，如果publication还是一般，还不知道好不好就业呢。不过朋友又
考虑可以边做博后边生小孩，博后完了是在找不好，可以再考虑申大公司做码农。想法
是去了大公司做码农，估计很辛苦，这一两年是估计没时间要小孩的。我觉得大公司长
远来看比博后还是好，钱多稳定。喜欢research的，码农做久了，也可能有机会往公司
相关的research部门上做。
大家什么建议？

去大公司,但不要做: Software developer.
Target Database Analyst, good job, better salary, better Life Style.
每个公司都需要：保险，银行，房地产，零售，食品，法律，煤电，水利，大学
，政府，运输，医院，制造业，通讯，高科技，等等.

老土博士啊，楼主朋友能做的工作显然比这个的技术含量要高的多
既然人家考虑postdoc，是奔着 researcher / faculty track去的啊

技术含量要高不高并不重要.
对于爱家女士, Higher Salary and Comfortable Life Style is the goal.
只有丰富生活经历的人,才理解老土话的意义.

每个人的人生目标不一样的
只要她自己开心就好啊

我觉得你的老土三原则对于有学术/事业理想的人来说是不适用的

为啥database analyst比码农工资高

Because most Software Developers working in the Software company. There are
many software Engineers in these kind of companies.
On the other hand, Database Analyst working in any kind of companies.
Software Developer and Database Analyst belongs to the same job category as
Software Engineer, no big different in this meaning.
However, the Life Style is totally different.

她非software developer的工作也申请过，比如data analyst和data scientist。可据
说目前为止大公司面试时都直接把她分给了码工部门的方向。不知道为什么。难道是
fresh cs phd没工作经验，所以先直接给她码工做做？
还有，database analyst真的工资更高吗？

Depends on what skills shown on her resume.
And depends on what she was talking during the interview.
I have CS Ph.D. students, who couldn't find god jobs previously, all got
Database Analyst jobs in nice University or Company now.
As said, Database Analyst and Software developer belongs to the same job
category, the salary can go as high as $150k.
