I used hydronic systems through out the entire house, heated by solar water
heater, so far not a problem.

what area are you? how does it work in winter night? how much does it cost
per sf overall?

I am in north east US (near DC).
Yes, it works in winter night, I am using waste heat.
I did it when I was building the house, so pretty much just the cost of PEX
pipes, I would say maybe $1 per sq ft is the additional cost at most. I also
did it for my drive way to melt the snow. (just more pipes after the house
heating loop)
