我是律师，律所有200多人，就我一个中国人。工作时间一长，就体会到什么是语
言霸权，文化霸权. 体会道人还是尽量帮助与自己背景相似的人，这就如同帮自己
一样。
今天被当了一把出气筒。周四时收到一个非同一部门的PARTNER的EMAIL，貌似那种
发给一大群人的EMAIL，我根本就没看。周五此PATNER 直接给我打电话，说你在处
理这件事么。我问什么事，然后第一次打开那封EMAIL。然后向他解释这件事要经
过特定程序，我并不是该负责这事的人，不过我会马上处理。然后我立刻找到正确
的人，交代给她。一般类似的事要花三四天的时间。不过该PARTNER说客户周一就要。
结果今天没完成。
然后今天我们部门的大头就找我谈话, saying that "the delay detrimentally
impacts
the client's relations

This post has gotten quite a lot attention in Working board, which is
why I transfer it here. Maybe we can look at it from two angles,
1) From a legal profession point of view, has LZ acted in a professional
way?
2) From a legal reasoning point of view, can LZ's conclusion be
supported by her evidence?

Maybe it's just a lapse of concentration. He obviously knew that he should
pay attention to emails form partners.
Of course it's not professional, but a person is allowed to make mistakes,
as long as he learned from his mistakes.
There is no way to judge if his argument is justified because he didn't post
the partner's email.

OP did two things wrong here:
(1) "工作时间一长" OP should know that every email should be read closely,
word by word. Basic lawyering. Also, if it's remotely related to his duty
, he should act upon it.
(2) He should not argue and defend himeself, which is more damaging to his
career than (1). By trying to defend himself, he indicated not only that he
is not willing to take ownership of his work, but also that he evades
responsibility when something blows up.
This has nothing to do with 语言霸权，文

It would probably bother you more if I assumed it was a "she."

I think the person handled the situation with professionalism after the fact
. However there is really no excuse in not reading an email sent to oneself,
especially an email sent from a partner.

it's just a minor mistake. This is "hegemony" but I doubt it's about his/her
identity, it could happen to anyone, it's just how law firms run. they
never will admit that partner's email created some understandable
misunderstandings and they will not blame partners for anything if they can
find fault with an associate.
Probably that's why lawyers (I guess associates) have the highest depression
and substance abuse problems among all professions? Just watching out every
minute to not fall in ditch

I believe if one handles office work with professionalism, he/she shouldn't
fall in ditches like this. Ignoring an email from partners is not
professional, obviously. A group email is not an excuse.
