是Office里的一个产品的一个新Team，要找inhouse machine learning的人，
recruiter在LinkedIn上找到我，然后和Hiring Manager一个小时Phone Interview后去
Onsite的。我有CS PhD，三年多Industry经历，Publication比较多，有绿卡（EB1a类
别的）。Onsite面试前，和Recruiter见面，他表示他们看中的是我的研究经历，所以
尽管这是个SDE II的位置，会问不少Research相关的问题。
总共见了四个人，包括Hiring Manager，他是第二个。每个人都是一半问Research，（
分别是我以前做的两个研究方向，我在Industry做的Project，和怎样用我的知识用到
这个Team的项目中），另一半是Coding （每人只出一题，题目好像在那个CareerCup
Top 150上都有，而且是难度中等的题目）。我感觉我Coding的问题都答出来了，虽然
有的是和他们讨论后完善的，研究讲得也可以，因为大多数是他们在听，然后问一些问
题，另外那位印度的面试官对我现在公司做的Project有一些疑议，认为不一定是最好
的方法。每一人都很友好，至少告别的时候大多说really a pleasure to interview
you, 或者you did really well.唯一的问题是，一开始Recruiter就跟我说名单上的最
后一个人（第5人）今天忙，可能见不到，我面到第四个的时候，那位面试官说他是最
后一个，我手头上的第五人不在Office。所以就面了四个人。
本周一面的，现在在等消息。各位看看，我这面试有戏吗？

女儿半年前发现门牙有蛀，做了filling，但掉了。怪我们没有及时再补，牙齿坏到神
经了，看了两回牙医，只能拔掉。其它牙还好没问题。这两颗牙缝很紧，虽然很早就开
始刷，看来是小时候没用牙线造成的。为此我很自责。
问，需不需要装spacer? 当时牙医说不用，想问下second opinion.

以前在版上看到某位讲过，因为某个code，gas cooking的话，HoA无法拒绝安装油烟机
的申请。我现在找不到这个帖子了。
不知道哪位知道这个code的名字，有个链接更好。包子感谢。

is your HOA denying your application to install a range hood venting outside?

找到了，是这个帖子：

或者厨房remodel的时候必须使用有管道通到外面的抽油烟机。如果你所在地方有这个
code的话完全可以和HOA讨论。HOA是不能要求你违反code的，也就是说HOA必须同意你
打洞的。
看了一下我们州的，

section 505 是domestic， section 6是commericial range hood，应该看哪一个呢？

烟机，而且不需要通到外面。

我现在公司的工资还不到100K，虽然老板承诺今年Promote到Senior Level，但是工资
还是很难改观。微软的这个职位的好处是个Research的位子，如果给Offer，应该是
RSDE，另外年收入能高不少。

昨天我问我在微软做Manager的同学，说名单上最后一个应该是能拍板的AA （As
Appropriate)，一般见不到就没有offer。但是如果在面试前就说了他不在，应该另当
别论。另外我在网上看到某个AA的Blog，说是一般在borderline的candidate，AA也是
要见他们的，比如面了4人，两个说hire，两个说no hire。我自己的感觉，应该不会
是因为少于两个hire才没有见到AA，而是他真的不在场。另外面试我人中，第二个是
Hiring Manager，是Architect，第四个是Principle，和没见到的第5个是同一个
Level的。。。这样子越想越纠结。。。

别纠结了，面完就move on. 我有一次去一中型公司面试，最后见到co-founder，聊了
半个小时，结果第二天把我据了。

u r so funny... there r superstars everywhere. some B.S get senior in <3
years does not mean it is the norm. by your logic, no phd should go to
facebook, since there are many "kids" there who are senior/director/manager
or even ceo...
the fact is that average phd in MS get to senior level in 6-7years, if
starting from L60.

dude, it is not something funny, it is something damn sad.
The fact is brutal, the truth hurts.
But if you just want to be average after so many years of efforts and feel
comfortable about it. It is also a choice.

很有可能，但是当时我感觉不错，和他谈笑风声，本来应该15分钟的谈了半个小时。
讲这些的意思就是说，面试完以后就应该别再想，往前看，尽最大的努力，抱最小的希
望。

don't see anything sad about it. if you are strong candidate, you can get to
senior fast as well. also, speaking of efforts, those B.S kids certainly
gave out their efforts to make senior in 3 years.
having a phd does not necessary mean that you are better than B.S kids, it
only means you have spent more time in school. does those time really mean
something to the company? that really depends. in fact, if your phd research
really shines, you have the alternative of trying out msr, where you get
L63 fresh out of school.
if you are average, you get average position/pay, phd or not. superstars can
be found everywhere, you have all the chances same as those B.S kids have,
and that is just fair.

I do not have PhD. I just feel not fair for those people who are under-paid,
under-valued and under-promoted.
That's why so many ppl are jumping out of the boat.
