折腾了一个多月,终于见到效果了.
第一周,到homedepot买了roundup,seeds, starter fertilizer. 先上roundup. 一天开
始见效.
第二周,用从amazon 买的挖地机开始挖地. 干燥的地方很好弄,可是阴湿的地方,又是粘
土,小挖地机很难搞,花了不少时间.
第三周,用从sears买的耙子,把草根耙掉,很费时间,草根大概装了十几袋.
第四周,整平地,先撒上starter fertilizer,再撒草种.然后到homedepot租了个磙子把
地压平.到lowes买了点straw盖上,浇水.
两周后的照片:

是呀,在想要不要再施肥一次,现在天变冷了. 有经验吗?xiexie

我们也想弄草地。BUILDER给的新房LAWN很稀，又逢夏天，涨得不好。
我们问了HOMEDEOT的人说最好是每年春天再重新弄（RESEED。。ETC），今年就算了。
是这样吗？ We are in NYC area.

秋天也可以。不过今年秋天快过去了，现在的气温已经偏低了。

reseed 春天可以, 其实我觉得秋天最好,现在已经晚了.

很可能, 我们这, 我种完的一个礼拜温度都70-80,非常合适.

夏天结束的时候reseed，这样秋天长一季春天长一季，到夏天的时候草就长得很好，比
你春天reseed只长一季要好
我听别人说的
我9月撒了草籽，现在已经长得很好了

我也是，园丁说多浇水就好了。
还是不放心，去买了一包草籽儿自己把那些个疮疤补上
结果后来多浇水还真就都长回来了，于是新草旧草混在一起成了画地图。。。

从amazon 买的什么挖地机？偶尔用一下，有必要买吗？
我本想到homedepot租一个，但装不进我车的trunk，就算了。
现在季节过了，只好等明春。

你可以去hd和lowes看看,他们有草皮买,你就可以估计出大概要多少钱了.应该会高一些
.请人比较贵,自己搞,应该还可以.

要用麦秸盖严实，小苗一出太阳一照就干死了，一天要三次水

丁版,每天浇水,太阳下,7天出,阴的地方,10天左右.3天,那只能土是土,种是种啦

担心种不好，重整更费劲，是不是说直接买草皮回来铺的话，容易一些？

买草皮肯定容易啊。价钱贵。
比如5000平方尺，种子的话几十块钱买一袋就可以了。
自己铺草皮的话算4毛钱一平方尺，就需要2000块钱。如果找人铺的话还要多花钱。
不差钱的话肯定上草皮更简单。

Then I'd skip fertilization for now until around Nov 26, when I'd apply
Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard Fall Lawn Fertilizer (HD sells it) at the
rate of 3 lbs per 1000 sq ft (assume the fertilizer is 32-0-10), and then
water it in and call it for a year.

Note this isn't for new grass only. You can/should do the same for your
lawns every year (assume you have cool season grasses).

I'd leave 2.5" for the winter, while abiding by the 1/3rd rule: never cut
more than one third of the current grass height. For example, if it is 4",
I'd cut to 3" (or 2.7"), wait for a few days to a week, and then go down to
2.5". (Assume cool season grasses again.)

However this doesn't work if you live in either New Jersey or Suffolk on
Long Island. Both places have total fertilization bans in late fall and
during the winter (NJ: Nov 15 - Mar 1, Suffolk: Nov 1 - Apr 1). If that's
the case, you have to skip this step to avoid fines.

I don't know how exactly it is enforced. Might be like not stopping at a
red light: sometimes you get caught, sometimes you don't. So use your own
judgement.
The Suffolk fine is $1000, and it is been there since 2009.
The NJ ban is new from this year, and the FAQ says:
"Am I going to get fined if I don't follow the law?
That is a possibility. In its final form, the law states that non-
professionals may be subject to penalty, as established by municipal
ordinance. This is in contrast to the fines for lawn professionals who fail
to comply with the law – those fines are set in the body of the law.
Whether or not your municipality has established fines, it makes sense to
think about how your activities impact the water quality of our state. Do
your best to safeguard precious water resources."
