Apple Said to Showcase New iPad on March 2
By MIGUEL HELFT
If you are thinking of buying an iPad, you may want to hold off a bit.
In an article about iPads in the enterprise published on Monday, we reported
that Apple plans to unveil a new iPad as soon as next month. Now people
with knowledge of the matter say that Apple will host an event on Wednesday,
March 2 to showcase its new iPad. The people agreed to speak on condition
of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Apple’s product
plans. Reporters and other guests are likely to receive invitations in the
next couple of days.
The new iPad is expected to be thinner, lighter and pack more processing
punch than its predecessor. It is also expected to have a front facing
camera to enable video conversations through Apple’s Face Time software,
currently available on the iPhone.
It is unclear when the new iPads will be available for purchase or what
their prices will be.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kara Swisher reported in the AllThingsD blog that Apple
would hold an event in San Francisco on March 2 to unveil the iPad 2.
