You don't need close the old account. The bonus is one/calendar year. So you
can have more than 2 checking accounts at the same time.

I believe the $125 coupons require that you are not an existing chase
checking customer
however, there are $100 coupons floating around that do not have this
requirement
one checking related bonus per person per calendar year, of course
