H1B的第二个三年用了一年多，明年10月到期，大概剩下一年又两个月左右。140早批了
，485当时错过了大潮，还没有递上去，PD是07年六月底。
按理说再等两三个月就可以递485，之后再过半年就是自由人了。偏偏在这时候拿到了
dream company的offer，但新公司未必肯立刻开始办绿卡，因此很困惑：
1.如果新公司要半年左右才开始办绿卡的话，貌似时间很紧，说不定H1B到期了140还没
有下来，这时候身份会黑了吗？
2.就算新公司肯立刻办绿卡，但是如果现在公司在我走人以后马上cancel了当前的140
，那么PD就没有了，在新公司还得重新拿PD，重新等，之前等的4年就这样白白浪费了
。所以请问大家有什么好的strategy保住当前的140不被cancel吗？
最好情况是新公司马上办绿卡，一年内140下来以后，把原来的PD给接过去，但前提是
旧公司不cancel现在的140。有人说应该不告诉现在公司，期望他们忘记了自己file了
140；但自己总觉得这样是在赌博，所以想和HR谈一下，说能不能不cancel 140，毕竟
取消了对他们也没有什么好处，反而要花时间精力去填表cancel。
现在处于非常纠结的阶段，一边是苦等了4年，胜利在望的绿卡申请；一边是自己辛苦
得来的dream company offer，很难抉择，期望大家能给我支支招，谢谢了。

My suggestions: (1) consider the group and the new boss. If they are nice,
it might be fine; if not, you might be in trouble. (2) put GC in the first
place. (3) consider your family. If you have a kid, moving impacts them
tremendously, negatively in most cases. (4) what does the group do? Is what
they do promising? When budget cut comes, the first thing they do is to cut
the position they don't like. Alternatively, you may think about the
question in terms of what you are doing. Doomed?
I can understand that dream company is important, but which is more
important to you? GC or dream company. GC=stable life & more opportunities.
Dream company=your dream.

感谢G777的回复。
1）面试的时候和manager吃饭，感觉人还挺nice的，关键是人不是老印。
2）dream company在同一城市，不需要relocate，但可能要搬到离公司比较接近的地方
。小孩还不用上学，因此影响不大
3）公司发展比较好，group进去以后再挑，因此现在还不知道。
4）bottom line是就算在dream company再等个5年的重新办绿卡，个人感觉也觉得可以
接受，因为4,5年内不打算再到其他公司了。只是眼白白地看着原来的PD丢掉，不甘心
而已。现在比较纠结于有什么办法能试探出现在公司是否会cancel 140，同时又不会打

我觉得一般公司不会闲着没事revoke 140的，那个对他们没好处。通过你的描述，我觉
得你应该跳。GC现在没那么重要了，现在回国也不是什么大不了的事情, 不应该因为GC
限制自己的发展。

Some people here are very negative about Indians. I have met some super
nice Indians. You cannot judge people by nationality. I met a Mexican and
gave a good impression on me, however, when cooperation comes, she is a kind
of hysterical and unreasonable.

我也是这样想的，这移民监是在坐的让人郁闷。还是决定下周和HR谈一下，大不了赔他
们办绿卡的钱好了。好机会还是得把握住

我收到过，以前在版上贴过，后来好像给我$4coupon了。 refer 我吧，回头收到

其实和自己现在熟悉的几个老印都是不错的，但对陌生的老印，总有种莫名的排斥感。
知道这样不对，但这种偏见不自觉的形成了。

要看你想不想回国了
想回国，不看重绿卡看重dream company的经验，就跳；
想留美，就等绿卡。有了绿卡，dream company的offer也不是那么稀有。

其实现在就算跳了，大不了绿卡重新搞，也不是说必须回国的

他们说的应该是风险情况，比如说绿卡还没拿到，在新公司被裁了(这都很难说的，比如几年前谁能想到Cisco现在裁这么多人), 就没身份了。但是我觉得最坏的情况就是回国，现在回国也没有那么可怕了。CS的有好公司的工作经验，国内应该也不难找到满意的职位。

我几年前有同事跳槽的时候，公司直接把他的140收回给了新来的另一个员工，没有
cancel。所以他的排期就归零了，很愤怒，但也没办法，他预先也不知道会这样。我也
不知道公司具体是怎么做的，不过也是几千号人的中型公司，肯定是合法的操作。找律
师咨询一下可能确实值得，或者让给你offer的公司的人给你建议--他们既然给了你
offer，一定会尽量帮你。
