hi there,
I want to read some literature written in 20th centrury. I don't know
who are the most famous authors and which books are the most representive
for this modern period. Any suggestion will be welcome, thanks in advance

penguin great books of 20th century

this list is very short.
i think penguin tried to pick up different kinds of novels, to be
representative instead of being comprehensive.
so they have joyce and proust, but exclude faulkner and woolf;
choose edith wharton's the age of innocence, but exclude henry james
who's much superior to wharton, possibly for the reason of admitting space
to female writers.
