Holden is lazy. What he hates most is to “shoot the crap”. To avoid craps
of all kind, he’s gone back to things like “and all”, and “kills me”. You
see them all over the place. He uses them so often; if you don’t turn around
and walk off, you’d be amazed the zillions of usages this guy can put these
two phrases to. Making sugar out of beet could be easier. Other than that, he
’s shortwinded, deadpanning often and never going around the bush. Calls his

just flipped through. didn't hv time to read this post word by word tonite.
a few instant thoughts: i got a strong impression that this hero was in a
mental relapse. wasn't he in some special school? and many classics, and
canons could feel very indolent & cynical.

said he was lazy! he wouldn't lift a finger so that you can like him
better. I've never seen anyone quite like that before...
perhaps ppl adopt it for black humer fics. (the book is done in 1951) You are
hold at this level of disbelief in pulp fiction and lock, stock and two
smoking barrels. but i'm making a stretch here. :P

eh but didn't you feel he had a boyish innocence? i actually thought it was
lovely. he appeared very cynical and rebellious and whatever,
but deep down he was terribly brittle and puzzled, could be easily shattered.
weakness and indolence were forgivable for a youth.. on the other hand, i
have odd notions on books; seems i always found loveliness in weird lots.

holden is one of the those who don't belong to society.---society comes
about to acknowledge common interests among its members. while people
like holden wanted other things than these 'interests'.--- anyone who
doesn't belong is invariablly a miserable person, but that does not
make him any worse or any less a person.
holden has his reason to be lazy just as you have yours to dislike
his laziness and fancy vigor and labor. he has as much a right to
doubt as model citizens have to believe. and w

saw the parody as much as it was. I actually liked the way you wrote
it. effortlessly sophisticated. but how you wrote it does not change
what you wrote, does it, :)
