scottrade and optionshouse both have a lot of mistake in txf file. don't know
other borker
on all 1099 reported to irs
1) all normal stock trade, reported, cost basis included
2) all ETF trade, reported, cost basis not included
3) all option trade, not reported.
the TXF you import to your software is a mess, they will treat everything as
reported cost basis not included. so you need to manual change every
trade to match the 1099 reported to IRS. take me a whole night to do so.

I wrote a small application to read different trades from txfs and write
into different forms few years ago, and it worked for me every year. Not
sure what tax software you are using, but sounds like it needs to take care
of the transaction codes in txfs.
