The mother or father who cares for a dependent child of the deceased worker.
The child must be under the age of 16 (or disabled before 22). This mother
or father’s benefit is different than a widow or widower’s benefit in that
it can be paid to someone of any age, whereas a surviving spouse must be
age 60 or older to claim a widow or widower’s benefit.
这个养逝者孩子的人，可以领取她/他自己的benefit，无论收入高低和年龄。
只要是孩子的parent, 可以是养父母，也可以是离婚的父母（surviving divorced
widow or widower）。

SSA的权威解释找到了：
These are examples of the benefits that survivors may receive:
Widow or widower, full retirement age or older -- 100 percent of the
deceased worker's benefit amount;
Widow or widower, age 60 -- full retirement age -- 71½ to 99
percent of the deceased worker's basic amount;
Disabled widow or widower aged 50 through 59 -- 71½ percent;
Widow or widower, any age, caring for a child under age 16 -- 75 percent.
A child under age 18 (19 if still in elementary or secondary school) or
disabled -- 75 percent.
Dependent parent(s) of the deceased worker, age 62 or older:
One surviving parent -- 82½ percent.
Two surviving parents -- 75 percent to each parent.
Percentages for a surviving divorced widow or widower would be the same as
above.
There may also be a special lump-sum death benefit.

以上的六类人，另外加上surviving devorced widow or widower.
其中Benefits for a widow, widower or surviving divorced spouse may be
affected by several additional factors （收入，re-marry, 年龄。。。）
但是 Widow or widower, any age, caring for a child under age 16 -- 75
percent这一类是不受年龄，收入和re-marry的影响的。
这部分benefits的目的是为了让这个survivor承担起抚育孩子的任务。

我想不是所有人都知道政府提供的这个福利。
所以在开个讨论串来普及一下所有working family的福利知识。
大家可以自己登陆到
http://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/
察看自己积累的各种disability或者survivor benefit.
有未成年孩子的家庭，SS给未成年孩子（到18岁）和照顾孩子的配偶或离婚配偶（到孩
子16岁）各自发钱，以帮助家庭损失一个收入来源造成的经济困难。
比如一个家庭有两个小于16岁的未成年孩子，爸爸或者妈妈一方离世。逝者过去年薪12
万，工作五年，那么这个家庭可以每个月得到$4500的SSA payment. 这个收入跟活着的
父母是否工作无关，跟她/他的收入也无关。跟是否再婚也无关。只跟她/他是否还继续
照顾孩子有关。
等到所有孩子都16岁了，这个survival spouse的照顾孩子的SSA payment就领不到了。
但是孩子还是可以继续SSA一直到18周岁。
