March 6, 2015: Here are four stocks among the 114 equities making new 52-
week lows today.
Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) dropped about 5.3% on Friday to match a
new 52-week low posted on Thursday of $15.07 against a high of $29.92.
Volume was nearly double the daily average of around 16.6 million shares.
The oil & gas company had no specific news today, but tumbling oil and
natural gas prices have hit many producers hard again today.
Lumber Liquidators Holdings Inc. (NYSE: LL) dropped another 4.4% on Friday
to post a new 52-week low of $32.34 after closing at $33.83 on Thursday. The
stock’s 52-week high is $108.40. Share volume was nearly triple the daily
average of around 2 million shares traded. Hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson
at Kase Capital has announced a new short position on 3.8% of the wood
products firm’s stock.
Vale Inc. (NYSE: VALE) dropped another 4.6% on Friday to post a new 52-week
low of $6.23 after closing at $6.53 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high
is $15.59. Share volume was about equal to the daily average of around 29
million shares traded. The mining company had no specific news today, but
Brazilian equities sank today following another increase in the country’s
key interest rate to 12.75%.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares
dropped about 1.4% to $85.50 from Thursday’s closing price of $86.74. The
stock’s 52-week high is $104.76. Volume is more than 25% below the daily
average of around 16 million shares. The company had no specific news today,
but dropping crude oil prices treated most oil stock harshly today.
