我想在Win98上装Solaris8,说明书上说要用Solaris 8 Interactive Installation

i guess the solaris operating system is only for Sparc machine,
not for PC or other different-CPU based machine. so i don't think
you can install Windows and Solaris on one machine.
if you do know a method, please email me to let me know. thanks.

you can install Windows and Solaris on one machine.

There IS Solaris for Intel. I got Solaris 8 for Intel myself.
But I heard Sun will discontinue the Solaris for Intel development.

There is solaris for intel CPU .
Just create two primary partitions and put win98 and solaris on different
partitions. The installation is easy, do it step by step according to the
installation guide.

I don't see Solaris 9.0 for x86. Don't whether Sun will make it or not.
Why do ppl need Solaris for x86 anyway? I prefer linux on it.

Sun will release Solaris 9 for Intel on 1/2003.
Apparently still a lot of people use Solaris for x86 (i am one of them :)

they stop solaris for x86 at 9.0, probably will resume support

well, they already charge for downloading Solaris8 for x86 around $40. I don't
expect them to charge much more for Solaris9

You can use vmware 3.0 to do this, although it's not clearly mentioned that
vmware can support solaris. But it really did.
I installed solaris 8(for Intel) in my laptop through vmware. My host OS is
win2k. It works well.

vmware can support solaris. But it really did.
I installed solaris 8(for Intel) in my laptop through vmware. My host OS is
