i talked with a merill lynch financial advisor yesterday. they have
a kind of account called WRAP, which is a all-in-one package that
offers stock, bond and cash management. The nice thing is that its
fee is based on your asset. No per-trade commission. It also
include something called financial foundation report, which includes
asking you lots of question and figuring out a financial plan for you.
the fee for this account is the following:
for the first million, it is about 1.5% of your ass

usually a CFP won't advise you on "how to trade". rather, they sell you
ideas about how to manage your money. let's say, you have $50k/yr extra
money and you go to c a financial advisor. he will probably tell u how
to distribute them according to ur currently situation, ur ability to
take risk, etc. e.g., he may tell you that you r better off putting $10k
on life insurance, $10k in bank, $15k on mutual fund, $15k doing trading
urself. he can actually help u buy the insurance and mutual fund stuf
