本人是美国公民。国内一表姐（姑姑的女儿）下岗在家，想以探亲（或其他可行的方式
）为名来美国。我要提供什么文件？邀请信，经济担保？
从前象这种情况签证通过的可能性是很低的，现在不知道怎样？
我表姐来美主要想打工挣点钱，如果签证过期黑下来，对我这个担保人有什么影响？
现在国内富的富死，穷的穷死。看着表姐生活无据，有心想帮一把，又担心以后会有麻
烦。。。

帮LD来问问。。。为了方便，尽量将数字化整为零。
去年LD拿的是半年fellowship,半年RA。去年F1已第六年，年初收到两张表，W2（14K）
＋ 1042S（5K，中美tready），还有另外8K的fellowship没有收到任何表格证明，没有
扣过税，学校office也不给开任何证明，说fellowship这部分不用交税，不符合IRS的
一个什么规定的，死活不给开。
现在用turbotax efile，按我的考古和理解，1042S的5K和fellowship的8K都是可以不
报的，因为没有withheld tax,都不用上税，所以不用报入总收入（AGI)。而我们是联
合报税，如果只有W2上14K的收入的话，还符合申请EIC的条件，那么我们退的税就会比
交的税还要多了。这么报可以吗？不想以后有什么麻烦。多谢大牛指教！！！

My case: submitted I539 Efiling on July 2nd, due to the delay of I20
from ISO; set an online account and email alert;
Efforts: 1. called and sent email to VSC center at least once a week
explaining regarding personal financial loss and academic
challenging when enrolling in the next spring semester;
2. asked ISO to write two strong letters for expediting
process by phone and in person to convince ISO how difficult
it will be for a late enrollment;
3. wrote to state senators for help the expediting process
Results: got approved on August 24th by email notice, registered class
first without any official documents; then informed the ISO
for the situation. (school and home are in two different
states,failed to change the address online)
In sum, even though my case might be an exception, you should try everything you can and don't take "no" as an answer.

可以用TurboTax，只报w2上的收入。因为fellowship即使对没有treaty的美国人也是
non-taxable，所以不给表格也是正常的。
所有报税表格和相关的工资单（pay stub，一般学校网站上可能能找到）都保管好备查
但EIC要求比较严，比如夫妻两个都要有合法的ssn等等，建议你们自己读一读1040
instruction Line64关于EIC部分的详细说明，一步一步的看你们是否符合EIC的条件。
如果符合，那么拿是没问题的。

I faxed my request letter to the offices of several senators. They
immediately responded me that they would like to help, but need wait for a
couple weeks in line. I don't really know whether or not it worked.
I had decided to delay my program for one semester even one year after
talking to the ISO counselor. A couple hours later, I got the email.
Good luck for your case.

The minimum time required is typically specified in the promotion policy.
Check it out. Don't forget to read the criteria for the next level up. Ask
yourself if you qualify.
Then, (1) list all examples why you are good to go up; (2) Or, ask your boss
what are the things you need to do to get there if you have done your
minimum years.

My employer does take exceptiosn to the minimum time rule.

Good work!
I did call, ask ISO to write one letter
But did not wrote to senator because my ISO adviser said I only have one
week and it does not help
I did got response the day ISO adviser wrote to CSC, did't know whether it
was my turn or the help of the email
But it is a Request for Evidence
I got the RFE and mailed the package today. Finger crossed for approval soon
...
If not, I will ask ISO adviser to follow the case again with CSC

哦？言下之意是可以不用靠担保？是不是提供自己收入和存款的情况，自我担保也行？
这些东西在国内办起来都不难的。如果不用我担保，那我也就不用担心将来背黑锅，这
样不就两全其美了？
不好意思，多年不办签证方面的事情了，知识贫乏得很。
这里有探亲签证的FAQ吗？找了一下精华区，没有看到有关的帖子。

Never say never! Don't stop making efforts. It is a very simple process and
normally takes five minutes per case at most.Your case can be approved at
any second.

各个公司肯定不一样。有些公司fresh PhD就给senior，我们这儿fresh PhD进来以后还
有２级才算senior，一般工作至少1年以后才有promotion。另外，我觉得一般也就问问
老板怎么才能升职，算是间接要求，直接要求的话是不是要自己比较牛，刚工作的话好
像不太合适。我升职的时候都是老板主动给的，当然我老板还不错。

看来担保、存款证明都没有多大用。稳定的工作收入作用比较大。

为什么不直接问？如果一个老板对这个都有问题，那就换工作吧。

对，现在很少看担保了
签证官一般只问签证本人的情况，花点功夫给姐姐弄个好背景，比如好工作高工资住房
和来美旅游计划，家人在国内旅游完了就回去啥的，培训培训姐姐，比说你是担保人有
用很多

You can send an inquiry email to remind them your urgent situation and ask
them to send the doc to ISO. They have a special phone line with fax.
