Is it worth to do too well at my job? Penalty? Advice please# Working - 上班一族

When I worked as part timer, my production already exceed my full time
colleges. Then when I became full time one year later, my responsibilities
are like two person's workload on both operation and sales. I was happy
because I could learn new skills and prepare myself for the next level in
the company. However, my formal manager held me up 3 times because she
needed to hire 2 persons to replace me. I was not happy and applied internal
transfer to another area for the same company. Now when I applied for a
promotion as an Assistsnt manager, my manager did not think I am ready
because she thinks I should keep my current position. One of the reason is
that I contribute 70% of the production and did part of the Assistant
Manager responsibilities. My husband said I did too well at the job and no
manager would let me go. I thought if I work hard, I should get reward, but
no penalty. I am so confused. But I think I should try my best to do my job,
but my hubby said I should have not done that well to cover other
responsibilities that is not my job. Could you please share your thoughts
how to handle this? Thanks in advance.

it is always nice to go above and beyond. I would schedule a meeting with
your manager and let them know how you deserve a promotion. However, if you
don't get the way you deserve to be treated, I'd be looking elsewhere where
your talent and hard work are recognised and appreciated. simple as that.

My manager normally hide in her small office and she knows my hard work and
contribution. After I talked with her, she shows that she does not trust me
and has some attitudes toward me. So I will move on.

It's a good idea to get another offer and use it as leverage to get a
promotion.

典型老中思维,努力工作得到回报?你学习努力,成绩回报,但是工作努力,不是一定
就有回报
你换个地方,换个经理,就能上去了?再碰到一样的情况怎么办,再换个地方?
想当管理,靠的不是努力工作,而是和老板的关系还有人缘

努力工作不等于就有机会当管理。如果你平时干的多,但没好和你的老板或者同事交流
,自命自己一个人干的比两个人多。结果会是同事不会喜欢你,老板会觉得有你在组里
是压力。举个例子,假如你老板是一线manager, 手下管5,6个人。她能晋升的机会有
两种,一种是她上面的manager走了,位置空缺。另一种是管理更多的人,那样自然就
升了。对于第二种情况,你觉得你干的多对老板有好处吗?

Relationship with every coworker is good and we communicate often. Another
reason is that I am too nice to every one due to the job function, or it is
so called " I try to please every one". Now I realized it is not working.
After talking with some friends in the field, it is the politics and culture
of the company. Thus, I move on and have an offer already.

妈的勤勤恳恳努力工作,最后比不上老板看上的一小妞,愤愤不平离职中

这样的结果太正常不过了。
唯一的应对就一条:加钱,否则走人。as simple as that.

Management is not popularity test, your peer does not count for your
promotion.
