Summary and Scope

Since their discovery in 2011, MXenes have attracted considerable interest due to their unique combination of properties, such as metallic conductivity, hydrophilic nature, large interlayer spacing, and rich surface chemistries. MXenes have larger, adjustable interlayer spacing and rich surface chemistry (adsorbed functional groups on the surface and surface electronegativity), which makes MXenes distinguished from other two-dimensional materials. Dozens of MXene compositions have been produced by HF or molting salt etching of the Al-containing MAX phases. MXenes have shown useful and tunable electronic, optical, mechanical, and electrochemical properties, leading to applications ranging from energy storage, catalysis, sensing, and medicine. In light of this, comprehensive and systematic research efforts are invoked to thoroughly understand the subject matter and further advance this research field.


Journal of Materiomics (JMAT), indexed in SCI (Impact Factor of 8.589) and Scopus (Citescore of 9.6), is a leading academic journal that publishes cutting-edge research in the general field of materials science, particularly systematic studies of the relationships among composition, processing, structure, property, and performance of advanced materials. The journal is going to publish a special issue on the topic of Mxenes in 2023.


Mxene材料集金属导电性、亲水性、大的层间距和丰富的表面化学特性于一身,自2011年被发现以来一直是研究的热点。其中,Mxene材料较大的、可调控的层间距和丰富的表面化学特性(表面吸附的官能团和表面电负性)使其在二维材料中脱颖而出。通过对含铝的MAX相材料进行HF或者熔盐刻蚀,已制备出几十种不同的MXene组分。可调的电、光、机械、电化学特性使MXene材料在储能、催化、传感和医药中大放异彩。因此,为了进一步理解并推动此领域的发展,需要援引更加全面与系统的研究工作。

Journal of Materiomics (JMAT)被SCI(影响因子为8.589)和Scopus(Cite评分为9.6)收录,位于中科院分区表1区。该刊引领材料学科发展前沿,注重报道以先进材料的组成、加工、结构、特性和性能之间关系的系统性前沿研究成果。本刊计划在2023年出版MXenes专刊。


The topics that the special issue will include, but not be limited to:
  • Sythesis and processing methods
    合成与加工方法
  • Theoretical and experimental demonstration of physical, chemical, electronic, optical, and mechanical properties
    物理、化学、电、光学和机械性能的理论和实验证明
  • Applications in energy storage, energy harvesting, energy production, catalysis, sensing, electromagnetic interference, bio-medicine, health-care, and environment
    在能源储存、能源采集、能源生产、催化、传感、电磁干扰、生物医学、医疗保健、环境等领域的应用


Submission Guideline

Authors should prepare their manuscripts following the online submission page of Journal of Materiomics at http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-materiomics. All manuscripts will be peer-reviewed according to the journal reviewing procedures.

Important Dates

Manuscript submission due date: June 30, 2023; Publication date before December 31, 2023
