The Alliance for Business Leadership (ABL) seeks an innovative and dynamic executive who can lead a mission-driven organization, leverage their vast network, and continue to grow the organization while creating a strong culture of inclusion and collaboration. This individual should be deeply committed to creating an equitable and socially responsible economy in Massachusetts.
Qualifications
Proactive and passionate about advancing civic leadership and social responsibility, focused on building an inclusive economy in Massachusetts. Experience in public policy development and familiarity with Massachusetts politics, particularly at the state level. Demonstrated previous significant fundraising experience through partners such as foundations, corporate sponsors, and major donors. Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience, preferably in policy, business and the non-profit sectors. Strategic vision and agility - think strategically, foresee trends, and adapt the organizational plan in response to changing external realities Exceptional written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Media experience preferred. Eager to speak publicly on the greatest issues facing the socially-responsible driven business community Ability to create compelling proposals and presentations with attention to tone and audience. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to multitask effectively while managing multiple concurrent projects. Strong commitment to the professional development of staff; successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team. Experience in a membership driven organization preferred. Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for an advanced degree in a related field.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee the work of the team, including recruitment, hiring, day-to-day supervision, and performance evaluation. Maintain an organizational climate which attracts, retains, and motivates a quality, diverse staff. Support the continued learning and professional development of the ABL staff, ensuring cohesion and teamwork among personnel.
Lead, manage, and be a thought partner with ABL’s staff in the development and execution of all ABL fundraising efforts, programming, recruitment, and general strategy.
Direct fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with foundations, major donors, sponsors, and corporate partners. Manage grant writing and reporting processes.
Lead policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of ABL’s key issue areas. Activate a committed network, including MA-based elected officials and civic leaders, to affect the implementation of smart policy related to climate and energy, housing, and transportation.
In partnership with the ABL board, recruit, maintain strong relations, and inspire board-member engagement to support the organization's success. Support strong board governance, including the development of agenda and meeting materials.
Communicate effectively with board leadership to help inform key business decisions. Maximize board participation to identify, introduce, engage, and solicit donors in order to diversify and build extensive donor support.
Organize quarterly board meetings reporting on the financial health, strategic programming, membership development, and communication strategy of the organization in partnership with staff.
Develop a plan to activate ABL’s nascent 501(c)(4) organization to further support the organization’s mission and values
Recruit new members and corporate sponsors to grow ABL’s operations, reach, and impact.
Bring positivity, integrity, pragmatism, and passion to the organization.

This is a hybrid position based in our Boston office. The compensation range for the role is $180,000-$200,000 with bonus opportunities.
