“估计已有4.4万只动物死亡”！

俄亥俄州自然资源部主任玛丽.莫克斯在一份声明中表示，该部门预估在脱轨地点8公里范围内，约有38222条淡水小鱼死亡，还有约5500个其他种类的动物死亡，包括其他小鱼、两栖动物、小龙虾和大型无脊椎动物。

The department estimates around 38,222 minnows were killed by the derailment within a 5-mile span, plus around 5,500 other species, including other small fish, amphibians, crayfish and macroinvertebrates, ODNR Director Mary Merks said in a statement. 

Merks underscored that the animals are believed to have been killed “immediately after the derailment” and noted that live fish have since been observed returning to parts of the area.
