As you and your student look ahead to the end of the semester, you may be thinking about final exams and summer plans. CMU offers a number of resources to help your student finish the semester strong, as well as summer housing and storage options for those who need it.

Preparing for Final Exams

Final exams are scheduled May 1-2, 4-5 and 8 with make-up exams on May 9. The Spring 2023 Final Examination Schedule is available online.

As a family member, we want you to be aware of several resources that you can share with your student. The Student Academic Success Center offers advice on preparing for exams and successful exam strategies as well as live workshops on how to prepare for finals. Students also have access to an array of stress relief resources such as the Mindfulness Room, weekly gratitude sessions, Stress Management Consultations and Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) consultations.

Summer Housing

Summer Housing is available to students who have an academic need to remain on campus for one summer school session or the full summer term. More information is available on the Housing website. Applications are due by noon on May 1.

Summer Storage

Carnegie Mellon Housing Services contracts with Dorm Room Movers to provide storage services to Carnegie Mellon students during the summer. Dorm Room Movers will send your student boxes and tape to pack their belongings. Their professional movers, who are insured and have passed a criminal background check, will pick up your student’s items, store them for the summer and deliver them back when your student returns. They also can help you ship boxes to and from campus. Dorm Room Movers is Better Business Bureau A+ accredited. Visit the Dorm Room Movers website to register for their service.
