【Research Teaching Specialist】

Overview
Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Research Teaching Specialist for the Affective and Clinical Neuroscience Lab (Lab Director: David Zald, PhD), housed within the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research and the Department of Psychiatry. The lab uses a combination of techniques to understand the structure of psychopathology and its neural correlates, with a particular focus on functional MRI.
The Research Teaching Specialist will work with Drs. David Zald and John Purcell, PhD performing various tasks involving recruiting and studying research participants who have psychosis. The specialist will contribute to research examining decision making in patients with schizophrenia, and the ability to improve decision making through simple attentional interventions. The research uses eye-tracking, fMRI, and emotion regulation strategies to study the relationship between psychopathology and realworld experiences. The position includes opportunities for co-authorship on resulting conference posters and manuscripts. The Research Teaching Specialist position encompasses duties that are comparable to those for positions titled research assistant at other academic institutions.
Position Summary
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As directed, performs various research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory, with a specific focus on MRI research of cognitive and emotional processes.
Performs MRI studies. Duties may include operation of task stimulation, eye tracking, and operation of the MRI scanner (once certified to operate).
Helps coordinate subject recruitment and data management.
Participates in the implementation and coordination of MRI analyses, and works with the research team to ensure conformance with the quality standards of the research lab.
Assists investigators in the implementation of clinical interviewing, cognitive tasks, and stimulation paradigms for use in functional MRI and cognitive neuroscience studies.
Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the functions of the laboratory. Participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
Qualifications
Minimum
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant science with at least a year of clinical research experience.
Relevant Sciences could include Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Biological Science.
Required
The candidate must also have good interpersonal skills as they need to be able to work well with collaborators across multiple departments, universities, and research participants, including research participants who have neuropsychiatric problems.
Preferred
Experience with clinically interacting with people with severe mental illness such as schizophrenia/psychosis, study coordination, clinical recruitment, and clinical interviewing.
Prior experience with eye-tracking data collection, coding (e.g., Matlab, python), neuroimaging, experience sampling methodology, and/or neuropsychological testing

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
This position’s direct clinical service responsibilities will be primarily based at the Homewood clinic but may provide virtual or in-person services and supervision at other locations in Maryland or Washington, D.C.

Direct Clinical Service (75%)
Creates a warm and welcoming clinical environment where clients feel supported and respected as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals.
Conducts diagnostic clinical interviews, utilizes collateral information and reviews relevant treatment records.
Administers multi-culturally informed psychological testing batteries (including but not limited to tests of intellectual functioning, academic achievement, learning and memory, reasoning and problem solving, visuospatial skills, language, executive functioning, attention, mood and personality)
Writes comprehensive assessment reports including diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
Collaborates with and refers to campus partners for support and accommodations based on testing and assessment outcomes.
Provides individualized coaching to address academic difficulties, compensatory strategies, executive functioning skills, and other sequelae of ADHD, learning disabilities and neurodivergence.
Assists students with creating study plans and test-taking strategies; skills to manage procrastination; time management; organizational skills; and increasing understanding of individual needs.
In collaboration with occupational therapists and other clinicians, develops and executes a range of skills-based group interventions for students who have ADHD and/or learning disabilities.
Collaborates with providers within SHWB as an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Consults, as appropriate, with providers in the community to facilitate continuity of care.
Collaborative and Other Activities (25%)
Remains abreast of current literature and research on psychological testing and assessment.
Participates in outreach and educational activities including resource fairs, community meetings, and training to JHU faculty, staff and students.
Contributes to professional development of trainees and SHWB staff through provision of didactic training and seminars.
Participates in case consultation, student risk management, peer chart reviews, and other departmental committees as directed.
Participates in intern and extern recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation.
Participates in MHS staff recruitment and hiring processes.
Completes documentation and administrative duties in accordance with MHS policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality assessment reports and review recommendations with learners, parents, and other stakeholders as required.
Bilingual proficiency is highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Psychology from an APA-approved program and an APA-approved (or equivalent) internship.
Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
Licensed as a psychologist in required jurisdiction(s) noted in the job description or license-eligible (licensed as a psychologist in another jurisdiction, must obtain licensure in required jurisdiction(s) within 6 months of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience administering psychological tests and assessments and report writing.
Experience supervising trainees in testing, assessment, and clinical services.
Experience providing individualized coaching to address academic difficulties, compensatory strategies, executive functioning skills, and other sequelae of ADHD, learning disabilities, and neurodivergence.

【工作职责】
