Today is Thursday, the 5th day of our vacation. We went to Mariposa Grove. There was a pretty landscape of trees and a creek, and it largely resembled the groves I saw in the Kings Canyon area. Among the famous trees we saw were the Grizzly Tree and the California Tunnel Tree. The Grizzly Tree was a really big tree while the tunnel tree was a sequoia tree that was carved in the middle as a tourist attraction.
Next, we drove down the hill to see the Yosemite Falls close up. The Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in North America and the 5th tallest in the entire world. As we walked close up, we could feel a thick cool mist caused by the force of impact. It also helped cool down a pretty hot day.
I developed a massive headache after the lengthy car ride back to our hotel. I had no sympathy from my sister because she was upset that I was taxing her imaginary resources in her imaginary kingdom game in the car.
Tomorrow we go to Mono Lake. It will be a long drive so I hope I will do ok.
Today we went to Mariposa Grove, one of the last 80 sequoia tree groves in California. It is a (little) well-known grove of sequoia trees. At first, we had to endure a long time of driving –only that my brother, not me, suffered the most. Or so he claims. I still think that he really just wants somebody to pity him. Mommy and Daddy are offering to give him Tylenol, but he refused. That’s evidence enough about my theory. (Or maybe not. He just took Tylenol right now. I think that he actually has a cold, but he won’t admit it.)
Once we got there, we saw Grizzly Grant Tree and California Tunnel Tree, two famous trees. I also learned quite a bit about the Faithful Couple, two trees that were fusing together. Some people think that eventually, they’ll merge into a supertree!
We also went to Yosemite Valley. I plucked up the courage to feel the powerful spray of the waterfall that goes 1000 feet straight down! (Actually, I’m just guessing. But it looked like 1000 feet!) We also came across a rock climbing area. Unfortunately, we didn’t do much there except look at other people rock climbing. Also there were mosquitoes. Bleh. I got 1 mosquito bite. 1 isn’t a lot, but 1 is still 1 too many. I don’t know whether it was the bug spray didn’t work, or if it was just an unlucky chance.
That’s how my day was. Right now my brother is lying in bed. I told you that he’s trying to get Mommy and Daddy to pity him and give him 2 more pillows. Then he’ll have 3 pillows to himself. I’ll foil his plan, though. I always foil his plans!
