不从国籍上来考究这个问题。
藏族，蒙古族，维族等等应该都不是Chinese, 恐怕没有异议吧？
那性感美丽的阿朵（湖南土家族）是不是Chinese? 苗族是不是Chinese?
可能还是取决于如何理解Chinese.

这种问题没有简单的答案
但是目前生活在中国的少数民族一般不排斥“中国人”身份

According to a professor of mine, only Han people are Chinese. In other
words, according to him, Chinese = Hanzu.
Suppose, a miaozu or tujiazu student in the USA is asked by an American, "Are
you Chinese?"
How would he respond?
Would he say yes? Or would he say no? Or would he say "I am from China, but
I am not Chinese."?

也不必依照西方人的认知
以前还在书上看有人说只有讲Mandarin的才是真正的汉族
这显然不符合中国人的文化认同现状，也不符合中国历史
中国自古以来就具备了某种多民族特征
许多非汉族文化也成为了中国传统文化
我想许多少数民族学生会毫不犹豫地对外国人说I'm Chinese
最多补充一下I'm not Han/ethnic Chinese
对于藏、蒙、维等民族特征显著、与汉族融合程度低的民族
可能对Chinese的认同感要低一些

我觉得陌生人问这个问题通常理解为国籍
一般问我的话我会说是Chinese 再细了如果对方能分清我会说我是中国少数民族

nationality是Chinese，ethnicity是non-Han minorities。
汉族也只是Han Chinese，Han并不等于Chinese
还有overseas Chinese呢！

nationality是Chinese，ethnicity是non-Han minorities。
