标题: UFL的CISE系被无理分拆，希望得到大家的声援

工程学院院长因为和CISE（Computer& information Science Engineering，相当于一
般学校的CS系）系长期不和，利用这次州议会削减学校开支的机会，提出一个完全不可
接受的议案，计划摘要：
1，将CISE分拆并入ECE系和ISE系，
2，将CISE系的研究全部剥离，只保留教学功能，同时去掉所有研究生TA的职位。
这完全是一场公报私仇的闹剧，任何一个理性的人都不会提出这样一个议案，更别说让
它通过。
全系的教授和研究生都联合起来反对，并扩大反对活动的声势，给学院和学校施加压力
，达到取消这一提案的目的。
Dean 在与学生见面会上一再敷衍问题，混淆概念
应对一次性的经费削减，采取永久性的激进手段。

your efforts (and keep it professional - passion is good, negative attacks
hurt our image!) as we are starting to see benefits: companies being
proactive about contacting uf administration and other computer scientists
who are rallying their departments to help us. As opposed to seeing CISE as
a dysfunctional department, the majority of outside responses have focused
on the students and the community (Gainesville, FL, and the nation) being
hurt by such a move. Keep it up!" - Dr.Benjamin Lok, Associate Professor,
CISE department. One more reason why we need to make Monday's human chain
rally a huge success!

请问一下，H1b 签证（上海面签），需要出示中信交费的收据的原件吗？
之前因为是让别人在国内帮忙交的费，然后通过交费收据上的那一串号码预约的签证。
但是没有中信交费的收据原件（因为是让别人帮忙交的费）。请问签证的时候需要中信
收据的原件吗？

Thank you for looking into this issue. I'm very disappointed with the reply
from DOS, which should implement both the literal and the spirit of the law
rather than play with only the literal meanings of the law to fool congress
.
The real reason why there's only a limit but no minimum visa numbers to be
issued to each country are: There're very few immigrants from some small
countries and some developed countries. U.S. can not attract 7% of the total
140,000 global quota from each of these countries.
However, in the case of Chinese and Indian employment-based immigration
petitioners, there're huge backlogs that will take several years to clear,
or the backlogs will never be cleared if DOS continues to fool congress by
playing with the literal meanings of "no minimum only maximum".

最近频繁的有种感觉

现在美国的计算机专业，就是中国10几年前的纺织专业。因为这个工作在社会比重大，
把一个本来不是专业的东西搞成一个专业，被拆分合并是必然的。看看中国的纺织专业
就知道了。所以悲愤没有用，历史潮流就是这样的。

UF的这个“分拆”是大卸八块 --- database center要去工业工程系，bioinformatics
去ECE, 就差把搞natural language processing的送到英文系去了。

yeah,yeah, O has said that it is "limit", not a "quota".
which means nobody should say anything regardless.
i get it. but any limit on illegal mexican? they should set a limit
on them, right? but where is it?

拆分到别的系，对你个人有影响吗？如果影响很大的话，考虑跳槽走人吧。
胳膊拧不过大腿，这类政治斗争的故事听过好几起，无一不是上层获胜。

You can say 'no minimum only maximum' makes sense when there are not many
demands. when there are huge demands and delays are so significant, stick to
that 'principle' is just silly.

奥傻当年那个国别7%就一直强调说是限额而不是配额了
实在难以想象对于一个有漫长排期的国家
还把7%或者27%当作限额是多么的愚蠢--当然如果有人有意为之那就另当别论了

just ask，如果申请人数和7%不能决定一个国家能拿到的最终名额的话，那DOS通过什么
来确定每个国家能拿到的名额。任何其它的方法都会产生歧视。
