CHOPPED TO PIECES
The Olympic logotype is an undisputed classic, but the same usually can't be
said for the Game's regional branding attempts. Host countried struggle (often
unsuccessfully) to develop graphics matching the iconic splendor of those
interlocking rings. Already, many Chinese are offended by the Beijing 2008
logo--a stylized runner and abstracted traditional chop, or seal, for Beijing.
When officials unveiled the logo, designed by little-known
