想写段程序去预测蛋白的跨膜区和非跨膜区，想知道至少几个氨基酸才能横穿细胞膜？
if a hydrophobic region cross the fatty cell membrane, 那这个hydrophobic
region 至少要多少个 aa?
相对的
hydrophilic segments that touch the watery cytoplasm and extracellular
environments，
这个 hydrophilic segment 至少是几个aa?

depends on alpha helix or beta sheet
roughly, ~20 aa for the former and ~12 for the latter, may not be very
accurate though
you can go to RSCB find some examples and take the mean value
no matter hydrophobic or hydrophilic, my 2 cents
