申请MBA,金融（硕士，博士）还是会计呢# Business - 商学院

女生，本科是EE的，之后工作过两年就是做软件工程师，但是始终兴趣不大。
之后考研读了国内的管理科学工程，选修过公司理财，金融工程，财务等偏金融的课程
。对金融感兴趣。
因为家人的原因，想到美国工作或者继续读书。地点基本考虑在加州。
加州好像提供金融硕士的很少，哪里能查到所有提供金融硕士的学校列表呢？
如果读金融硕士或者MBA的话，就业情况怎么样呢？
另外，我觉得自己数理分析能力较强，但是并不是那种很能说的人。喜欢做偏分析方面
的事情，但是也不喜欢天天闷在办公室的工作。读金融,MBA或者金融工程哪个比较适合
我呢？

MBA,金融硕士基本就是能说就可以了。
如果不愿意学习吹牛和bullshit的技巧，请考虑金融工程。

it is up to what you want to do.
if you don't want to change yourself, you can focus on analytics. there are
many such positions in finance, corporate finance or investment banking. so
a MBA with concentration in finance will do.
OR is another field that you may consider. Logistics is very hot and will
continue to be so.
financial engineering is typically offered out side of a MBA program. It has
a very limited field and if you don't like programming, you have
considerably limited yourself.

想问下，金融的话是不是一定要比较灵活的人才能做的比较好呢？如果人相对老实，能
力比较强，可以做金融或者读MBA吗？
供应链的话，我在国内做过一些项目觉得兴趣不大，不是采购，就是做些操作性重复的
事情，可能不会考虑申请，不知道美国的情况怎么样呢？
如果对编程没有兴趣，做金融工程肯定做不太好是吗？

大部分金融的工作都是操作性重复的事情。
看上去麦卡锡一类的商业咨询应该是你喜欢做的。
如果是这样的话，读MBA而且要前10的MBA是你唯一的选择

IB is analytical but its more about interpersonal and sales skills. I am
close to a moron and I can still crank up some market multiples to value a
LBO. If LZ hates repetitive labor she can consider consulting, big 4 is
always a great place to start. accumulate some experience and you will have
no problem getting into BCG Mckinsey or Private Equity.

big4请人chinese还是有弱势，最好去uiuc之类的老牌acct牛校，并且要interpersonal

我去年面试了几个本地的公司，里面别说中国人，ａｓｉａｎ　ａｍｅｒｉｃａｎ都没
有一个。相比之下四大真的很ｄｉｖｅｒｓｅ了。
不过读商学院的嘛，吹牛是重要生存技巧之一。

吹牛也要polish your english. 在亚洲也许马马虎虎也能过关，在北美讲不到ABC程度
的根本算不上是吹牛啊。。

Yeah group hug with chinese people all day while in school cerntainly wont
help that. too bad its a common observation within the chinese community in
my B-School. But it is possible to speak better english...say move to a hick
town and force yourself be a republican.

这也许就是为啥大部分chinese牛人都只能做技术面。真正的ib不是modeling，那些
corporate related才是上流的business.可惜，在那些领域中国人连老印都不如。

And how about accounting? It's cheaper and quicker for me, and I heard that
it's more stable.will this be a good start? if there's only duplicate jobs
for this major, I will defintely not choose this major.
and what is the difference with the master of accoutingand MBA focusing on
accounting?
How about the job market in California?

如果你喜欢对照1000个数字的正确，看很多fasb的法律条例，然后冬季的时候工作65小
时/周。yes accounting will be great for you! the only difference is that you
won't be闷在一个办公室，你会访问客户，然后闷在很多不同的办公室里面。

accounting是一个很好找工作的专业，这几年属于最好找一类。确实比fin的风险小，
当然钱一般也只有40-60k. 不过acct的经验比较好，刚开始工作很boring，但是你要是
做auditing之类的也蛮有意思的，因为要travel去具体的公司，了解business的运作。
有什么比亲自目睹和参与的经历更好的呢？duplicate久了就有新的意义了。基本上
big4呆三年，你的excel和interpersonal skills就可以帮你转行了。
macc和mba acc的区别？我不觉得有多少。最多就是前者便宜而且对工作经验无要求吧
。目的都一样，为了帮你修满需要的150credits，business law& taxation courses,
然后顺利考cpa/cma。这样想当然直接macc好啊。
加州工作很累。big4还是有竞争的。不过一想到可以去审计清算那些IT破产公司似乎也
蛮有意思。。M&A做久了转IB都行，当然这是case by case.

我比较希望从事专业化。不喜欢从事那些简单，可替代性强，辅助性的工作。
也希望工作比较稳定。但也希望在事业上比较的成功。
希望工作里并不是那种主要与人打交道，靠人际关系的工作，比如类似于销售，采购等，
希望主要是专业化的工作，有一些人际交往是我可以的，也是喜欢的。：）
暂时我希望在MBA（finance or accounting 方向），finance(硕士或者博士)，
accounting中选择。希望大家能基于我的想法能再给我一些建议。谢谢~~~

想再问一下
1如果在加州，金融和会计类的工作情况如何呢？一般就业去哪里？
2 要做的比较好的话，分别对能力的要求有什么？
3会计和金融工作中各自有意思的地方在哪里
4 会计还有金融类的两个分别的工作内容一般在时间上的分配是怎么样的？比如一天的
时间分配。
5 金融毕业也可以去四大吗？四大就是单指会计方面的对吗？
6 四大在美国长期出差会很多马？会计如果不去四大，在企业的工作其他方面的工作会
不会很重复枯燥呢？

1, location is not related at all. UIUC macc can find jobs in CA, UCB
graduates can go to NYC for ib. All depend on your abilities.
2. if you think networking and bullshitting are not respected by you and not
important at all, you'll probably reconsider your decision. In practice,
people who are quiet and technical based wouldn't get much promotion chance.
3. for accounting, for me, practice is not that much fun, except it helps
