我现在在一所学校做faculty，现在H1B身份，拿到了另外一所学校的offer， 8月15号
正式生效. 想知道转换H1B到底有多复杂，要花多少时间。另外暑假准备回国探亲，怎
么操作H1B 比较好

I suppose your new employer will handle the transfer. It's quite simple.
I won't suggest travel before you get your approval notice. Speack to
someone at the international office of your new school.

months is not uncommon

都是中国人，不说见外话。
如果你们需要招的是有工作经验的人，那么可以理解。
否则的话，今年H1B名额都还有，STEM的人就算申请明年的H1B也没问题，OPT也没有gap
。其实手续上H1B transfer和sponsor new H1B完全是一样的，应该也考虑后一种
candidate啊。
我不找你们这一行的工作，只是实话实说。

No, you need to have the receipt from USCIS
before you can file H1B, you need to get PWD (more than 2 months) and LCA (1
to 2 weeks)
and then it will need at 2 weeks or more to get the receipt without premium
processing ($1000 extra)
