最近看到有个说法，说是被management consulting
裁的以后很难重新回到这个行业，注意，不是说
回原公司，而是整个consulting行业都不会接纳。
据说是本行业的潜规则。这个，听起来好像比较恐怖。
考虑到最后升上去的比例这么小，那大量associate
最后岂不是都沦落到没有饭碗？

在李嘉诚陆续出手上海物业之后，本报近日独家获悉，李氏目前在内地最大一个房地产
项目，上海真如副中心核心地块项目的建设将于近期破土动工。
“前几天我收到了李泽钜先生的亲笔信，希望政府在确保开工上给予协助，目前长江实
业已做好了所有准备，只等开工批复下达。”上海真如城市副中心开发建设投资有限公
司总经理何智奇对本报记者表示:“具体日期有望敲定在3月，最迟4月。”
何智奇透露，真如副中心项目，总面积约100万，总投资将超过100个亿，是李嘉诚在内
地房地产业最大一单投资。
在刚刚过去的2008年，内地楼市进入调整期之时，长和系在上海先后出手世纪商贸广场
、御翠豪庭等高端物业；2009年初，长江实业再次被爆欲抛售陆家嘴地块、真如副中心
项目缓建。
在内地楼市投资素有“风向标”之称的李嘉诚，到底是“看空”还是“看好”上海楼市？

consulting, then you should know better to seek other opportunities.
Tons of talented associates leave this field each year to diversify their
experiences, one guy i know from Bain left the MC practice to join a start-
up tech firm. If you must narrow your choices before you even start, I dont
see the point of living.

it's rare that one would leave a consulting firm and join another at associa
te or em level, that's all.

. it's more like a business postdoc, as said by a 40 year veteran at a recr

不知道你的说法是否正确。
但是在mc做过的人会在很短时间内积累许多其他行业的经验。转到其他
行业做是很正常。也比较容易。
不是所有的人的体力能在MC坚持一辈子的。干些念头换行很正常

但是在mc做过的人会在很短时间内积累许多其他行业的经验。转到其他
行业做是很正常。也比较容易。

不知道说得对不对：多数 management consultant 以后都很难做到 principle or
partner。其实 MC job 就像 post-doc，只能做一段时间，以后还是要找 industry 里
的普通工作的。当然 MC 工作应该提供很好的背景和各种机会用来找工作，以后可以去
熟悉的 industry 里做 management，或者可以 startup。相比 technical background
，然后一步一步往上爬，MC 背景应该还是有些 shortcut 的。当然在 industry 能做
得怎么样，也要看能力、水平、和机遇了。
Hopefully, MC can help shape the career path, get a head start, eventually,
you may get back into the industry. So be very very nice to your clients,
they may become your colleague or boss in the future.

Thanks for the inputs by all you guys!
It's interesting to see the analogy used by a few people here, that MC is
like an industrial postdoc. In this sense, it seems less of a concern of
getting fired and having to quit from MC since it's only a transient step...

It's interesting to see the analogy used by a few people here, that MC is
