切利比达赫经常有惊人之语,接受采访时,他对指挥同行中他不欣赏者
的评论有时是非常刻薄.下面是他1989年接受德国"Der Spiegel"杂志
采访时对部份指挥家的简评摘要:
Karajan: "horrible. Either he's a good businessman,
or he is deaf."
Toscanini: "a note factory."
Muti: "talented, but a great ignoramus."
Abbado: "a wound; totally bereft of any talent. I could
survive
for three weeks without food; but three hours of listening
to
him would garantee a heart attack."

It is not surprised that Celi looked down on Karajan.Celi
had lost the position of conductor for Berlin Philharmaric
Orchestra when he competed with Karajan.Howerver, I really
don't understand why people would like to spend much time
talking about conductors and their style.It seems to me
anybody could be a conductor. These days conductors are
almost pianoists such as
Ashkenazy,Barenboim,Pletev,Periah,Previn,Levin including
Cellist Rostropovich.I stop listing before you get
tired.They had never
