A friend ask me about Tiffany gold coin, here is my suggestion:
(1)
Coin, should has a legal tender to be called a "coin". Anything that is not
legally issued by US Mint, is not a "coin".
(2)
The face value of a "coin", if it is not a legal tender, means nothing.
(3)
The value of a modern gold coin should be measured by the content of the
gold inside. There is usually about 10-15% premium over the gold price to
account for mint cost.
