我的项目是和他们公司合作的。他是该公司的一个group leader。汇报工作的时候见过
一次面。
这是不是就撇不清关系了？如果不算独立的，那我就不求他了。

Clients that use your work are also very important, that shows that your research is useful, and it is very convincing of your value.
Impact is mostly two folded:
1. your publications influence others to follow your steps, and those people who cited and used your papers without knowing you personally (purely independent) are the best.
2. your work affects your field/industry/academia and it is used in some systems/products, and those clients who have used your research results (obviously they may know you, but it's okay) are the best.

嗯，这个是我最后一封推荐信了，仿佛看到了黎明的曙光。。。。

research is useful, and it is very convincing of your value.
