Hello Prof. **,
The Office of Student Conduct received a report of academic misconduct from
[A]on April 21, 2016. [A] described the location as, “Incident occurred
in [room number] at the front of the classroom, on the opposite side of the
room from the professor's podium. Near the large desk for disabled students.
” The students listed as being involved in the incident as [L] and [J]. [A]
’s description of the incidents is as follows: Seating arrangement at the
front of the class near the desk for disabled was not ideal for a quiz. I
was sitting near the middle of the classroom. The two persons involved were
almost facing each other. I had finished my quiz early and was able to
witness blatant cheating at the front of the room. As [J] had finished his
quiz and was gathering his homework to turn in along with his quiz, [L] was
leaning over and staring at the solutions on [J]'s paper. It was very
obvious what was going on. Our STAT-350 professor, Dr. **, may not have
noticed though. I do remember the professor trying to get [L] to move seats
at the beginning of the quiz, but the offer was denied by [L].
Reporting academic misconduct to our office comes from the chair of the
department or the professor after it has been handled within the department/
school. I wanted to forward this information along to you, since you were
mentioned as the professor of the described class.
Feel free to contact our office at ***.
