。来美国快12年了，一路走来，从学习，到工作，冷暖自知，非常感谢未明上各位的帮
助， 也希望分享自己的经验给未来需要帮助的人。 律师同时提醒以下事项：
Make a note that:
· Legal Permanent Residents should not travel outside of the U.S. for
more than six months each year; keep a record of all trips outside of the U
.S. If you need to travel for more than six months, you should apply to CIS
for a re-entry permit (travel document).
· You should contact the Social Security office and apply for a
Social Security card with the employment restriction removed.
· You cannot vote or otherwise claim to be a U.S. Citizen; when
renewing your Driver’s License or ID, DO NOT check the box to register to
vote.
· You must file federal income taxes each year AS A U.S. RESIDENT, if
you are employed.
· Legal Permanent Residents are still required to notify Immigration
of change of address within 10 days by filing the form AR-11 to the address
indicated on the form. This can now also be done online at www.uscis.gov.
· Most importantly, avoid any problems with the police. Even a
misdemeanor crime could cause you to lose your resident status and become
deportable.
