One advantage of C and C++ is that many jobs do not expect one to know too many libraries. However, getting comfortable with the languages do take several years. Java on the other hand, requires significant knowledge of various libraries, although the language itself is easy to master.
better choice for beginners looking for jobs. I spent almost 6 months on java and some popular frameworks, and I got several phone interviews. If you major in cs, then should even be no problem.

You're right. Java is really easy to convert to. Just need to spend time getting familiar with the frameworks and libraries.

Java and C# are two popular languages in job market. Well, SQL is a plus.
