Senior Engineer - Performance Development
Responsibilities:
Monitor and respond to trends in production performance before they become
a problem
Work with our development teams to design and tune their products for
optimal performance and scalability
Work with our operations staff to triage and resolve production performance
issues
Monitor database performance and usage, optimizing both queries and the
code that generates them
Required Skills:
-7+ years of solid practical experience in the tuning, development and
maintenance of SQL, PL/SQL (Oracle)
-Excellent working knowledge of Oracle SQL Trace, TKPROF, Statspack, and AWR
reports
-Experience trouble shooting Oracle locking issues, wait events, etc and
develop solutions to fix them
-Experience in identifying bottlenecks for scalability and performance
-Working in a highly collaborative team

· Design, implement, and own both new and existing functionality as a hands
-on developer
· Work on the logging and exception handling framework which handles
millions of log lines per day
· Responsible for enhancing our custom built java thread profiler
· Analyze, design and develop new features, test cases and implement
automated test suites.
· Contribute to the analysis of functional requirements
· Working closely with development and quality teams to create and improve
these utilities and strategies
Requirements:
· 5+ years of development experience
·Demonstrable analytic and problem-solving skills, particularly as it
relates to application design and infrastructure
·Strong Java language skills
·Linux/UNIX/Solaris
·Solid knowledge of SQL and understanding of relational database schema
design
·Understanding of object oriented programming
·Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar engineering field
·Ability to work independently but know when to ask for assistance and/or
advice
·Ability to learn quickly and deliver high quality code in a fast-paced,
dynamic team environment
Desired Skills:
·Experience working on teams using agile development techniques and test
driven development
Knowledge of java management technologies including JMX, MBeans, latest
technologies and SNMP
Systems monitoring concepts and algorithms including statistical analysis
Experience with any of: Jetty, Resin, OSGi, ant, maven, Scala, sbt, HTML/CSS
, Javascript, JQuery, REST
