Hillary Clinton on Tuesday praised the “Harry Potter” book series, saying
it helps readers build empathy for immigrants and the LGBT community.
Speaking at an American Library Association conference, Clinton cited “
years of data” and a study tying the series to young people’s tolerance
toward different demographics, Yahoo News reported.
“It’s impossible for me to overstate the impact on children who see
themselves in the pages of a book and are introduced to people unlike
themselves,” Clinton said at the event, one day after the 20th anniversary
of the first “Harry Potter” book’s release.
