还有， patent prosecution 和 litigation 到底有什么不同？ 是一个只写写， 一个
上法庭打官司的吗？ 中国人不做litigation是英语不好的问题吗？ 做litigation是不

acutally I am better at communicate with people, but I am afraid I don't have
the necessary quick thinking and persuaion abilities, even though the though
it intrigues me quite a lot. I know I don't want to push paper for the rest
of my life, therefore I am still contemplaiting about law school.
I will admit being financially successful is very attractive to me, but I
definily won't do a job which I will hate.

TV, and from what I have read, those law student who were interns for defense
attornies, they said the real thing is even better!!!!!!

OK. another thing lawyers need to do is to beat the sh*t out of people even
when they are reluctant to tell.
all I said was Chinese not born in the US is not suitble for litigation. If
you enjoy working with people, there are a whole bunch of careers out there
other than practicing law.

well, I won't lie. Law pays well, and give me a chance to work with people.
The only other profession fits the criterion I can think of is docotor, that's
definily to late for me now, but law school is still possible.

no no no no no. a good lawyer should get words out of anyone he intends to,
not just from witnesses.
other than litigation, most lawyers dont deal with people at all. they do
exactly what you do in your cub: read the paper, and write down what they get.
If you can not do litigation, there is not much point practicing law since you
want both money and interpersonal communication, with the latter one lacking
for most lawyers.
end of story. I dont' see the point we are talking about. good luck with

that's not contradicting. between a job with virtully no human contact (the
current one) and bad pay, and a job with relativly more possibility of working
with people and pay better (lawyer), I would definily take the second one.

I'm wondering about the same thing as you are: what about corporate law
besides IP? I know it sounds like a bad idea to throw away the master or
doctor degree, but I'd like to explore other options. In addition to coporate
law, it seems like personal injury is also lucrative, but is it often referred
to as "ambulence chaser"? This line might require one to appear in court
though. On the other hand, I don't like immigration law.

well, I can tell you what I know.
I personaly know only one guy doing M&A. early 30, jewish guy. He went to a
small, but ok law school, maybe ranked at top 50. He said he didn't want to
work for big firms, so he decidecd to "kick back" and work for a medium size
firm, how medium, I don't know. Anyways, he told me specifically he billed
about 2100 hrs a year ago, and he's making about 150K give or take a little.
He said everytime a big case comes down, they start working in groups. I
