I plan to take the patent bar exam. My undergraduate (and graduate) major
is chemistry, which is not on the USPTO list. I can meet the alternative
requirement of having taken >30 credit hours of chemistry courses. But how
to prove my eligibility? Can I mail sealed transcripts to the patent bar
exam registration office? Or otherwise?
Anybody who has knowledge or similar experience, please let me know.

There are tons of patent attorneys with BS in chemistry. You should be fine. I
don't know the detailed procedure either. But isn't there a general chemistry
degree under category A?

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Unfortunately chemistry is not among the degrees in category A.
They have biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, and
physics. But somehow no chemistry, although one alternative is
having taken >30 credit hours of chemistry. It's a little bit funny.
I was told by a friend that I can mail the sealed transcript directly.
Hope it's true.

The USPTO bulletin I had was from a while ago. Maybe it has since been
changed. But in that version I found both "general chemistry" and "organic
chemistry."
In any case, just do your due diligence and you will be fine.

Thanks. You are right. I made a mistake. I'm glad to find out that chemistry
IS on the list. Now it's much easier.

hehe, I think it's quite natural to wonder about the words of the regulations.
For example, the bulletin says a BS degree in Biological Sciences does not
qualify automatically under category A; but BS in Biology does. This doesn't
make much sense. It makes you wonder why. It's like the patent statute:
practically every word has been litigated to seek its judicial interpretation.
However, we can have faith in the system. It's usually fair. And if we have
BS/BE degrees from a decent University in
